Visit this stunning ancient kingdom and trek among the world’s highest mountains. The charm of Nepal is that it is largely without roads and access is only limited to ancient trails linking isolated villages where life and customs have changed little over centuries. Only on foot can you discover the true nature of the country. Our trek through the foothills of Helambu is stunningly picturesque with the peaks of the Jugal and Langtang Himals offering a very impressive backdrop to what is a charmingly unspoilt and untrekked area.
These mountains dominate the northern horizon while line after line of foothills roll away south towards the Kathmandu Valley. The region is corrugated by a number of narrow ridges and deep-forested valleys running north to south through which flow the headwaters of the Sun Kosi river – the Yangri and Larkye, with the Malemchi Khola being the westernmost tributary. The population is predominately Sherpa and there are several picturesque villages and Buddhist monasteries scattered around the Malemchi Khola.
