SSAFA, Mount Kenya Trek

1st - 10th October 2026

Conquer Mount Kenya with SSAFA – An Epic Adventure Awaits!

Embark on an unforgettable journey to the summit of Mount Kenya (4,985m), Africa’s second-highest peak and a true trekker’s paradise.

The Adventure Begins

Our challenge kicks off just outside Nanyuki in the Rift Valley, where we spend two nights acclimatizing in a beautiful forest camp lodge. Before we take on the mountain, we dive into an action-packed British Army adventure training experience in the heart of Ngare Ndare Forest. Test your limits with rock climbing, canyoning, mountain biking, bushcraft, and rope skills, all under the guidance of expert instructors. We’ll also hear from an active member of BATUK, the British Army’s permanent unit in Nanyuki, giving us a rare insight into military life in this rugged terrain.

The Ascent – Taking on the Mighty Mount Kenya

Fully prepped and ready, we begin our epic ascent of Mount Kenya, a stunning twin-peaked volcanic giant standing at 5,199m. While only technical climbers can reach the highest summits, our goal is Point Lenana (4,985m)—a breathtaking vantage point where, at dawn, we may catch sight of Mount Kilimanjaro rising through the morning mist.

Why Mount Kenya?

While Kilimanjaro may be taller, Mount Kenya is the ultimate trekking experiencequieter trails, untouched wilderness, and jaw-dropping scenery. This is the true adventurer’s mountain, offering an unrivaled mix of challenge and reward.

The Route – A Stunning Traverse

We take on the remote and spectacular Timau route, winding through lush forests teeming with elephants and buffalo, before reaching our idyllic high-altitude camps. The final push to Point Lenana begins from Icy Mikes Camp, where we trek through snow-covered trails to reach the summit. Our descent via the Sirimon route provides a stunning and scenic conclusion to this incredible expedition.

This is more than just a trek—it’s an adventure of a lifetime! Are you ready to take on the challenge?

Optional 2 day safari can also be added after the trek.
