This is more than just a trek—it’s a powerful opportunity to raise awareness and vital funds for supportive services, clinical research at Velindre Cancer Service. Every step you take and every pound you raise, will help us continue to go above and beyond for patients and families affected by cancer across Wales.
Who are Velindre Cancer Service?
Velindre Cancer Charity is the official charity of Velindre University NHS Trust, incorporating Velindre Cancer Services and the Welsh Blood Service, we stand together to deliver expert cancer care and support to patients across south-east Wales.
How your fundraising makes a difference
Your contribution through registration and sponsorship would contribute to:
Provide 250 families with soft lion teddies for children, additional support and comfort to families experiencing a cancer diagnosis.
Provide 50 patients with a 1-hour specialist counselling session, providing one-to-one wellbeing support for patients exactly when they need it.
Provide more than 65 patients with a complementary therapy session who alleviate anxiety, cancer symptoms and treatment side effects for patients.
Collectively, donations raised through the Ourika Valley Trek Challenge can directly support one of the 40+ clinical trials active at Velindre today, or even fund multiple Clinical Nurse Specialist’s salaries.
How you’ll be hearing from #TeamVelindre
Once registered, you will be directly supported by the Velindre Cancer Charity Team – who will provide fundraising support and resources for you to raise that £2500 target.
You will receive all communications from Event Lead and Major Events & Overseas Lead Amy Penketh – including an event information pack and fundraising pack. You’ll also receive exclusive access to an event information evening, exclusive training walks, and excitingly a bespoke Ourika Valley Trek event t-shirt and medal.
